Short Trio Selection

Short Trio Selection

Too often today, you have to tailor your cigar smoking to a time and place – both limited. This is when a short slender cigar is the most satisfying. Here are three quality cigars that fit into a short time – without any diminution of flavour or enjoyment.
Perfect sizes for a 15-20 minute smoke.
Watchpoint:  Relax and draw gently, so that you won’t destroy the fine flavour.        Colin Wesley

Machine-made, long filler cigar from Cuba

Quintero Puritos –
(110mm  x  Ring 29, 11.5mm)
It is one of the few Habanos brands not born in Cuba’s capital city, Havana. Instead its founder Agustin Quintero with his four brothers set up shop in the south coast city of Cienfuegos, known as the “Pearl of the South”. Then as now all the tobaccos selected for Quintero came from the Vuelta Abajo region, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.  Quintero’s smooth, medium bodied taste makes it ideal for those seeking to experience the taste of Habanos at an affordable price.

Two short Filler cigars from the Netherlands:
The short-cut filler leaf allows the natural aromatic oils to spread and blend, creating a light, easy-burning cigar.

Balmoral Oxford Tuitknak (91mm x Ring 32, diameter 12.6mm)
A superb hand-finished short-filler cigar, 100% tobacco, from the last independent cigar company in the Netherlands. The cigars have a Java binder and a rich, smooth Sumatra Sandblatt wrapper. The filler blend is carefully conceived with leaf from:
Cuba: Havana Remedios, from one of the protected Denomination of Origin regions. This is also the source of leaf for José L Piedra Cuban cigars.
Java: Indonesian Bezuki leaf native to East Java, for their distinctive aromatic flavour.
Brazil: Brazil leaf is dark brown to black in color after fermentation, with a mild to medium strength and rich flavor; it is very aromatic, and has a natural sweetness.
The unusual Tuitknak shape means that your light-up smoke is almost entirely rich, smooth Sumatra Sandblatt wrapper.

Ritmeester Senior (100mm x Ring 30, 12mm)
The cigar factory was originally founded in 1887 in Veenendaal, Netherlands, and re-named Ritmeester in 1915. In 1998 it became part of the Danneman Corporation.
As Ritmeester, the cigars have been popular in South Africa for as long as I can remember. Ritmeester Senior is a blended short-filler cigar. The short-cut filler leaf allows the natural aromatic oils to spread and blend, creating a light, easy-burning cigar. Consistency is the keyword for such cigars. A homogenized binder can be fed into fast-moving machines, which can be set to weigh out exact amounts of tobacco, roll them into an exact diameter and cut to an exact length, with no room for human error.
The cigars are finished with a natural leaf wrapper.

Watchpoint for these cigars:
Relax and draw gently, so that you won’t destroy the fine flavor.
