Slim Model 55-Z1600	It is the simple classic flint ignition and liquid fuel system, with only two moving parts, that makes the guarantee viable. The lighters are excellent for outdoors - but the fuel does have a slight aroma which (if you don't like it) may adversely affect the taste of your cigar or pipe. MAINTENANCE
On the Highveld the tank needs to be topped up once a week (remember to lift the felt pad);
and the wick will need a trim every 3-4 months (just pull it up and snip it).
Other than that "it works or we fix it free"™ applies.

Here is the Zippo repair policy in the event that your Zippo lighter needs to be repaired.
(please note that the finish of the lighter is not guaranteed)

Zippo Lighters are repaired free of charge if:

• If the lighter does not light anymore (Except if it needs a wick, flint or fuel).
• If the lid does not open or close properly.
• If the lid has come off.

Although the finish is not guaranteed we will re-attach emblems dislodged from the lighter.

We must stress that a Zippo lighter does not get replaced but it does get repaired so that it is in working condition as per the guarantee.

For Zippo lighters 25 years and older:

The case of the lighter will be repaired as much as possible and a new inside lighting mechanism will be fitted into the lighter case. To preserve the collectability of your vintage windproof lighter, the original insert will be returned to you in the same condition as received. A single package containing the repaired lighter and the original inside lighting mechanism will be returned to you. Note: If you are a collector and wish Zippo to attempt to restore the inside lighting mechanism of your lighter, you must state this in your letter. If you fail to communicate this in your letter, your old lighting mechanism will not be restored, however, it will be returned along with a new inside lighting mechanism.

For Zippo lighters less than 25 years old:

The case of the lighter will be repaired as much as possible, and a new inside lighting mechanism provided. If you request it in writing, we will also return your original inside lighting mechanism to you.

A return address and telephone number must accompany your Zippo repair, alternatively, you may hand your Zippo in at your nearest Zippo Retailer for them to forward it to G.D.S. on your behalf.
Most repairs take ±4 weeks from your posting the lighter to us to your receiving your lighter back in working order - remember we do not charge for any repair – just a contribution to the postage to G.D.S.
