| Humidifiers (generate humidity) |

A good quality cigar
humidor, with a hygrometer
and a proper seal, will not on its own guarantee proper storage of premium
cigars. The humidity levels inside the humidor must also be properly controlled.
It is necessary to have a good humidification control system.
The Savinelli Humidifier contains
a special material which is aseptic
and bacteria free and
has the ability to absorb almost 40 times its own weight in water.
It is best used in combination with

This
liquid serves 2 very important functions.
It changes the surface tension
of the water. This changes the normal evaporation tendencies of the water,
maintaining the humidity level at approximately 65 to 75% Relative Humidity.
Secondly it helps prevent mould and bacteria from forming – these could
adversely affect your cigars.
Watchpoint:
Always use distilled water, or at least boiled and cooled water in any
humidifier. The salts and chemicals in normal tap water clog the humidifying
material, prevent correct operation, and may affect the cigars. Only the
clay/aluminium Cigar Freshener can use ordinary water.
Don’t
make the humidifier so wet
that it drips on your cigars.

ODOURLESS NON-TOXIC ANTI-FUNGAL
Regulator Fluid for Humidifiers
73-Sav724 (115ml) R119.95
This fluid is made with a special formula which helps to
maintain the
proper humidity levels inside the humidor
and contributes to a longer
life for the humidifier.
INSTRUCTIONS
FOR USE
First time of filling. Use only
the regulator fluid:
About 30ml (large tablespoon) for small round humidifiers.
Thereafter: Before filling each time, squeeze about 10 to 15 drops
(half teaspoon) of regulator fluid into the humidifier. Then top up with
distilled or boiled water. Don't overfill.

73-AtFresh R69.95
Clay/aluminium humidifier, can be used with hard water.
Just soak in warm water for a minute or so, wipe dry, and its ready
for use.
The clay readily absorbs the water and then releases it into
the air in your humidor.
The freshener is heavier when wet if it
feels light it needs another soaking.

Paradigm Hi Tech
Humidifier
Developed in 1993, the secret of the Paradigm System
lies in the use of surgical foam – a medium developed for the aerospace industry that just happens to be ideal for cigar preservation in that:
- It stretches refill time to once every 3 months by holding more than 1½ times the water per unit volume as conventional foam or clay. (Distilled water to prevent clogging
by salt deposits.)
- It releases humidity at a constant rate over time because it doesn’t dry from the surface inward.
- Its “robust release rate” maintains humidity even in semi-arid conditions.
- It needs no special conditioning fluids or chemicals.
- It resists the growth of odour-causing mould and bacteria.
- The humidification vents are located on the sides, moisture cannot drip onto the cigars.
- At normal room temperature the vent size precisely meters the flow to maintain 70% humidity in widely varying climates.
All this in a sturdy, aluminium casing – light and rustproof.

What
are the benefits? The single cigar
is protected against damage or contamination and needs no further humidification,
in the restaurant, in your home or when you are travelling. In a glass
tube the life span of a cigar is almost indefinite (extending into years),
provided it is not allowed to get warm, for example by leaving it on a
shelf that gets the sun or is near hot water pipes. The glass tube will
preserve the cigar in exactly the same condition as it is when you put
it in.
- If it is in
good condition, it will stay in good condition.
- If it is dry,
it will stay dry.
The tube may be used
to recondition a cigar that is dry:
Simply run your damp (not wet) finger across the underside of the sponge,
then put the cigar into the tube and seal it. You may have to do this
more than once, but don't try to rush the process.
“Checklist for preserving your Cigars”
The
tubes are available in 5 sizes, with stopper and sponge.
The sponge is essential to prevent damage to the end of the cigar, and
useful for reconditioning. |

| AN
OPTION - If you don't have the time to finish your cigar comfortably,
and it is still enjoyable, then "Doggie bag" it. Cut it off just below
the ashline (for cleanliness), blow through it (to expel remaining smoke),
and put it in a glass tube (or wrap it) to complete your enjoyment later. |
