with the beneficial Balsa
for a drier smoke.
For
over 120 years four generations of the Savinelli family have been creating
pipes of the highest quality. Each pipe is handcrafted by dedicated artisans
who love their work. The wood purchased must all be good enough for their
top pipes, because it is only when the bowls have been turned, after the wood has been
carefully dried and cured, that they can be sorted. Any surface flaws, and
the amount of hard/soft grain, are what differentiate the gradings. It follows that whichever pipe you choose, the bowl will be hard,
dry and
porous, ensuring
a good smoke.
All
the Savinelli pipes (with the exception of the slender Bent
Bob, Cross and Cross Long
and
the special shapes
Lollo
and Roley) incorporate the 6mm balsa or
the optional adapter. |

Punto
Oro Fumée

The Gold Dot is the stamp of quality on these magnificent pipes.
From the hand-cut vulcanite mouthpiece and the
mirror-smooth inside
of the bowl to the
contrasting smoky grain (often birdseye or straight
grain)
they have been perfectly made to give
a perfect smoke.

Champagne
The light finish allows you to appreciate the hard,
close grain of the wood, and to examine the pipe
for possible minor surface flaws…. very few!
The colour darkens with smoking, enhancing the grain,
and if kept polished the appearance
will mellow with age, like antique furniture

Spring - Classic Shapes

|
A brand new series and finish – classic shapes as only Savinelli can make them, in a light, golden-brown finish.
The few surface flaws are almost invisible yet have kept the series in the upper-medium price range.
We have three shapes – 2 classic bents, and a beautiful Canadian styled with Italian flair: the sleek shank is angled up slightly from the bowl to allow for the gently curved mouthpiece.
Teflon peg for optional 6mm filter.

Short - and chunky
Not just short, but chunky too – yet the proportions are perfect. The medium-large bowl is ideal for a reasonable length smoke, and the shorter stem ideal for when you want to carry the pipe with you. The pipe was available with either 6mm or 9mm filter and we’ve chosen the 6mm which means that the bore through the shank is relatively narrow and leaves more wood than usual in the shank of a filter pipe - resulting in a stronger shank, more able to stand up to the tough Teflon peg.
Four shapes which feel amazingly comfortable in the hand, available in a satin-smooth polished chestnut finish, or an elegant burgundy rustic finish in which the surface has been deliberately smoothed to remove any sharp points, giving the pipe a rough velvet feel …… ideal for thumb-rubbing.
Both finishes are enhanced by the brass band on the mouthpiece – a really sporty pipe.

WATCHPOINT
A
most important word of warning about filter
pipes:
Filter pipes must be smoked with either the filter or an adapter (usually supplied with the pipe).
Smoking without the filter (or adapter), even once, will allow moisture to condense in the empty space and seep into the shank, causing it to swell. This will result in a cracked shank, or a loose mouthpiece which is very difficult to remedy. If this happens to you, take it in to your nearest Wesley’s for an opinion.
The Tenon/Peg is tougher than the wood!
Keep it clean so it won’t stick. Wipe and pencil it occasionally so it slides easily. Have a look at the Gallery |
